THE SAN DIEGO LAND CONSERVANCY
COALITION
The SDLCC is a 501(c)(3) organization governed by a board of seven directors. Since its incorporation in 1991, the SDLCC has taken the lead in coordinating the activities of San Diego County land conservancies. It has published a directory of land conservancies in San Diego County; held networking meetings for land conservancies; organized and held a fund-raising workshop for San Diego County environmental organizations; represented land conservancies on numerous countywide citizens' advisory committees; sponsored regional meetings of southern California land conservancies.
In 1996, seven land conservancies in San Diego County- the Anza Borrego Foundation, the Back County Land Trust, the Escondido Creek Conservancy, the Fallbrook Land Conservancy, the San Dieguito River Valley Land Conservancy, the San Marcos Land Conservancy, and the San Elijo Lagoon Conservancy- agreed to increase coordination of their activities. Representatives from the Iron Mountain Land Conservancy, the San Diego Audubon Society, the Batiquitos Lagoon Foundation, and the Vista Conservancy have also attended meetings and SDLCC workshops.
Our staff and officers consist of individuals with more than ten years of experience in preserve land management, MSCP habitat planning, and planning and land use in San Diego County. Our advisory board consists of representatives from the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, the California Department of Fish & Game, the County of San Diego Department of Planning and Land Use, the County of San Diego Parks Department, the Coastal Conservancy, the Conservation Biology Institute, the Center for Natural Lands Management, the Nature Conservancy, and the development community serve on our advisory board. All members of the SCLCC adhere to the Standards & Practices guidelines that are listed on the Land Trust Alliance website.
